SATA support? Dell Poweredge 850

Hey folks,

I'd like to install FreeBSD on a Dell Poweredge 850 server, which, I found out, uses an SATA HDD. The freebsd.org website doesn't mention any support for SATA in FreeBSD, and trying to install FreeBSD 6.0 fails on fdisk (no drives found), however the boot messages do mention the drive...

I'm a bit at a loss how to install it on this server, since I'm also relatively new to SATA and freeBSD. So, my question: From the bootable CD, how would I install FreeBSD 6.0 on a machine which only has an SATA harddisk?

Failing that, any suggestion on a Linux distribution instead that has likely support for the server's SATA chipset and also supports FreeBSD's jailing out of the box and has a precompiled java environment available?

Thanks in advance.

Mark.
