I am having difficulty with starting a media player with either mozilla or firefox. If I go to www.nasa.gov, then go to http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/MRO/main/index.html which the home page for the mars orbiter mission. On this page there is listed an option to view a video to watch concerning the mission after selecting to watch the video, it downloads a file to me and directs it to RealPlayer, at that point the whole process fails and the warning message states that reason for failure is that RealPlayer is missing a component.

Cool videos! I watched one on the Mars orbiter, a .mov file using Kaffeine. In my humble opinion, Mplayer is just not up to it any more.

Are you speaking of URLs like http://www.nasa.gov/mov/144457main_MRO-Launch-MOI_FullCap.mov ?

No "plugin" necessary, but it may not stream.

mplayer http://www.nasa.gov/mov/144457main_MRO-Launch-MOI_FullCap.mov works nicenst, better than in QT7 ;-)

No sound, so what...(on Windows)

The secrets of tmplayer. Codecs.conf etc.

It wouldn't give me sound in Mozilla under KDE. After doing some research, I decided using Kaffeine-Amarok as plugins was far better.

Can someone tell me how to fix this. Thanks

I would recommend uninstalling Mplayer and the pluging, and install Kaffeine, Amarok and the plugin.

Greetings:
After reading the help listed above, instead of "Kaffeine" were you actually referring to kaffee? Anyway the help was appreciated, the issue I have now is that now when I go to www.airamericaradio.com and select to listen a 'pop-up' comes up and gives me an error stating that x-mplayer2 is missing and that is the reason things are not working. The question is how do I get the 'pop-up' redirected to select another multimedia app of my choosing? Thanks
