Problems mounting Fat32

This is probably a common question since a lot of people share data
between FreeBSD and Windows, but:
I have two SATA HDs, one with OSes (40GB Windows, 40GB FreeBSD), one
for data (300GB). The 300GB HD is formatted FAT32.
I've tried mount -t msdos /dev/ad4s1 to mount the 300GB HD, but that
hasn't worked.
I've tried compiling a custom kernel with MSDOSFS activated. That
didn't work either.
I keep consistently getting the error (if I remember correctly):
mount_msdosfs: /dev/ad4s1: Invalid argument
I read somewhere that FreeBSD may only be able to mount FAT32 logical
partitions, so I created one and haven't tried it yet. But I also read
that it cannot mount logical partitions. I may need to reformat the
drive because when I created the logical partition, it shows up as
being ~150GB under windows, while the primary partition shows up as the
full 300 (though partitioning software says it's 150 too).
What should I do? I'm at a complete loss. Thanks,
