Having been told FreeBSD 64-bit isn't quite ready for production use, I

desktop. I'm a writer/researcher with little use for things like Flash
and Java plugins, but I do treasure stability and reliability. I'd be
willing to use OpenOffice in 32-bit compatibility mode, if necessary. I
intend to build everything from scratch, assuming CPUTYPE=k8.


FreeBSD-amd64 works fine as a desktop system. The only
thing that is missing is flash, and some of us really
don't miss flash.
