Conrad et al,

What do you see in the output of "pciconf -lv"? This should provide a
clue as to which sound driver you need (if one is, in fact, available for
your particular sound hardware).

Sorry for letting you guys wait so long. I thought I had copied the
output
to my USB stick, but it was not mounted at the time... here we go.
You would think its an ICH7 driver that's required. But apparently
snd_ich
is not able to drive this one.

hostb0@pci0:0:0: class=0x060000 card=0x201517aa chip=0x27a08086

pcib1@pci0:1:0: class=0x060400 card=0x00000088 chip=0x27a18086
rev=0x03 hdr=0x01

none0@pci0:27:0: class=0x040300 card=0x201017aa chip=0x27d88086

device = '82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio'

I would give a try to the hda module:

http://people.freebsd.org/~ariff/lowlatency/

It work great form me on another make.
