No 'helo/ehlo' before STARTTLS
But that is _not_ the behavior Postfix exhibits when I send email while
capturing the packet traffic in Wireshark. Apples to oranges. In one of the
earlier replies notice that the it does EHLO first, it send extensions,
etc, then does STARTTLS with the following message body successfully
encrypted ( I snipped the body from the Wireshark trace because it is
gobbledegook).
So while I do see that the command you sent exhibits a different behavior
from Postfix, I'm not sure how/why that is relevant to Postfix if Postfix
is behaving correctly. Could be I'm in way over my head here too :-)
And yes, I don't know if/when the next time I'll be "online". My DSL
situation is just getting worse and worse here. Really starting to make me
angry. Evidently Verizon has lost the ability, or the personnel with the
ability, to repair a phone line.
