snmp problems

Hi Guys.

I am having an issue with snmp and 64 bit counters for interface stats. I am using cacti to graph throughput, because the LAN is gigabit and speeds often go over 500mbps, the traditional 32 bit counters overflow and give incorrect results.

The solution given by the cacti team was to use 64 bit counters. It appears snmp chokes with this.

[root@ns ~]# snmpwalk -v 2c -c community <ip> .1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1
IF-MIB::ifXEntry = No Such Object available on this agent at this OID

I have the same issue on 3 diff FreeBSD machines, 1 with fbsd 7/amd64 one with fbsd 7/i386 and one with fbsd6.3/i386, all give the same issues
with this query on them.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Be gentle please! I am still much of a noob when it comes to snmp.
