Rebuilt snmp using v5.4 and added --with-mib-modules=if-mib
--enable-mfd-rewrites to the configure params.
Hopefully this helps some poor soul googling for the solution one day.
It might be a good idea to drop this bit of knowledge with a change
request to update the net-snmp port to the ports maintainer via email
and/or using a PR (``problem report''). How to do that is detailed on
the FreeBSD website; you can use send-pr(1) or the web interface.
If you want to get really fancy you could figure out how to do the
update-a-port thing and submit patches to the ports tree, but just a
note what you ran into and how you fixed it is a good start already.
