I am new to BSD and thought that I had completed my first install but upon the final reboot the system boots to a text display instead of the Gnome desktop that I thought that I had chosen during the install. Can anyone point me in the right direction to fix this?
The FreeBSD Handbook is a good starting point for basic information about common features.
You can use 'startx' to start the X Windows session once you login. If you're looking for a GUI on boot, then I believe you need to set up XDM or similar...

I don't have any experience with XDM, I prefer to run without X as I only have FreeBSD on my servers.
