The warning about libXfont is spurious. Why's it trying to install
1.2.13_5 over 2.3.0? What am I doing wrong here?

I've since done a ports install of portupgrade-devel followed by pkgdb
-F and the latter fixed those inconsistencies (or it says it did;
haven't got back to gkrellm yet). I'm just about to portupgrade -ai

Nothing broken. It is because this version of firefox has some
vulnerabilities and the ports system suggests you should not build this
firefox port. If you want to proceed, you can enforce the build
procedure by defining a shell variable `DISABLE_VULNERABILITIES' before
`make install clean' etc.

And it is obvious that you have not updated your ports tree as the erorr
message suggested. Check the the manual of portsnap(8). This is a small
utility for convenient updating your ports tree to the latest.
