Simplest possible mailing list on FreeBSD

Is it practical to set up a small mailing list using only
a long .forward file? The list will be small, probably no
more than a dozen subscribers, with low turnover. Manual
administration is perfectly ok.

I'm concerned about the risk of starting a mail storm and
uncertain if the default MTA is clever enough to prevent it.
Obviously something like majordomo would work, but I'm hoping
that's overkill. The ports tree contains minimalist, but even
that offers more features than needed.
