I've had this happen on a brand box running linux[0], where a later FreeBSD
install didn't have a problem _at all_ with the keyboard. The second cpu
however...[1]
Some machines need a kick in the kbd controller halfway the boot to keep
it working. Might want to check the bootflags to see if there's an
explicit reset-the-keyboard one.
[0] 2.2.something kernel.
[1] I did solve that one, altough I don't remember how. This was a weird
and wacky ``big brand'' box so such things are to be expected.
