Looks like that CD was made wrong. Your laptop must be capable of
booting from CD, or you wouldn't have gotten that far. You could
see if the 1.6.1 CD works any better,
ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/iso/1.6.1/i386cd.iso
If not, or if you'd rather not download all that, or if you can't
burn CDs, you could make bootable floppies from boot1.fs and boot2.fs
on either CD, using "rawrite32.exe" (on the CD) under Windows, or
using "dd" under any unix-like system. (This is discussed in the
INSTALL.{html,more,ps,txt} document, on the CD(s), albeit the 1.6.0
document is short on details.) You can boot from the floppies, yet
still install the sets from the CD.
