    I agree (although maintaining system control scripts across multiple but
    similar platforms is probably a real pain).

    But the benefits of future systems having a unified set of control "levers"
    seem great - experience with one system would transfer better to another
    (less retraining from management point of view), and the various *BSD
    systems might be viewed more as a single presence in the work place.
