I was amazed at how nice NetBSD 2.0 is. At http://netbsd.org, they have
a fantastic document appropriately named "The NetBSD Guide". They did a
fantastic job writing this gem of a document (can't get in enough
superlatives).
Under "Software for NetBSD" on the same page is all the software ported
to NetBSD. They ported everything I ever heard of and more.
Sounds like you are new to Unix, NetBSD looks like an excellent intro.
