In lieu of real answer to yr q... ;-)

I have a couple of 2p and 4p opteron mobos. While there were troubles to start
with (1+ y ago), they work OK. Haven't tried really pushing them lately.
Run them so far under linux, openbsd and freebsd.
Sorry, haven't tried netbsd on them.
Presume the SMP code is "pretty much" the same across all 'nixes.
