008_xdm.patch fails

Fresh install; then
Patching according to the instruction:
cd /usr/XF4/xc/programs/xdm
patch -p0 < 008_xdm.patch
cd /usr/XF4
make compile

This runs a few hours and finally fails with

Is this a true message; you need Tk 4.1 or higher for the patch to go
through ??

Anyone out there had the same problem ?
