Rebuilding my system binaries led to some kind of kernel panic..?

Hi,
I was updating my system to the patch branch, following the instructions
on the OBSD site. I downloaded all of the CVS source, rebuilt my kernel,
and started to rebuild the system binaries, following the exact
instructions from the site.
When the system binary rebuild started showing lines like:
Checking for xxxx..... Yes
It suddenly stopped responding via SSH. I plugged in a monitor/keyboard
and I saw the following onscreen:
uvm_fault (0x06a7fe18, 0x0, 0, 3) -> e
kernel: page fault trap, code=0
stopped at syscall+0z1de: jnz syscall+0x264
I haven't got a clue what that means. Also, a 'ddb>' prompt showed up
afterwards, and after typing help, it showed commands like 'boot',
'examine', 'next' etc. Is that some kind of recovery console?
Two things happened which could have caused the problems to my knowledge:
1) I didn't reboot the system to use the new kernel, as soon as it
finished building I just started with rebuilding the system binaries too.
2) On the OBSD site, it says (http://openbsd.org/stable.html) to run 'rm
-r /usr/obj/*' - but my system said that the /usr/obj directory doesn't
exist.
It's a Pentium 200MHz (overclocked to 225MHz) MMX with 64MB EDO RAM.
Any help gratefully appreciated,
Matt :)
