Tried going back to stock speed? Overclocking puts stress on a
system which may show up only under extreme loads-- and compiling a
new system is a pretty hefty load.
Secondly, have you checked for RAM problems? MemTest86
at http://www.memtest86.com/ is a great program for that, and a free
download. There's also MemTest86+, a derivation of that project at
http://www.memtest.org/ . Download one or both programs, copy to
floppy/cdrom, and boot off them to run at least overnight. If there
are any memory errors, FIX THEM.
