Do a Google search on this message. There are more than a few
references, and many of them point at bad link-level stuff, like bad
drivers or a bad NIC. The MAC is sort of like a CRC, so it sounds like
packets are being corrupted.

I've seen this reported before on a *.mac.* newsgroup, and the problem
turned out to be a bad router or switch. Apparently those ubiquitous
LinkSys routers combos sometimes have problems; this is one of the
classic results, since SSH cares so much about correct packet data, and
tends to bitch loudly when things don't transmit exactly right.

How many network devices touch these packets? Check your NIC, or swap
it out for a different one. Any commercial routers or switches on the
path out of your LAN? Reset any switches and see if routers need
firmware updates.
