     Gregory,

If you ever figure out how to print with OpenBSD, please tell me.

A few years ago, I did manage to get OpenBSD 3.4 to print. I posted my
solution to this newsgroup at that time. I had to download and
compile the sources of CUPS and EPS-Ghostscript.

Well, I used 3.4 for a while and then upgraded to 3.6. The same steps that I
successfully used to get 3.4 to print did not work on 3.6. Recently, I
tried 3.7 and still no luck.

There is a CUPS package and it installs okay. But, I think CUPS requires
EPS Ghostscript and there's no package for that. I tried downloading the
source, but it would not compile on 3.7. I don't recall the error message
and I was so fed up by then that I didn't spend much time on it. I again
asked the newsgroup for help, but all I got was a response from a guy who
said he was having the same problem!

I'm mostly a linux user, but I liked the idea of having OpenBSD around as an
alternative. I don't do a lot of printing, but I do need that capability.
It's amazing to me that this problem exists in OpenBSD; it was solved in
linux a long time ago. Don't any of these OpenBSD people print?

    Duane
