Clean only cleans the port, not any of the port's dependencies. The
dependencies can get quite large, dwarfing the usage of the port you're
building. To clean *everything* try this:

        $ make CLEANDEPENDS=Yes clean

or add CLEANDEPENDS=Yes to your environment.
