samba as PDC

Howdi,

how can I get samba and their tools to add users with local SAM authentication (pdbedit, smbpasswd)? Only the root user is doing it now, but I have another login in the wheel group. I've even put SETUID on pdbedit and smbpasswd, and it didn't solve this issue.

I'd like to stay away from DB backends like SQL or LDAP if possible.

Any help would be appreciated.
