Main Question:
How can I use Enscript to print out text files with fancy headers at
the top of each page, but put different data than normal inside those
fancy headers? I would like to use a look similar to
"--fancy-headers=emacs".
I am working with source code that someone else has written, I have
found it necessary to printout sections of code. Rather than using the
sucky tools supplied, I decided to use Enscript within the Cygwin
environment. Because of OS limitations, I will need to copy the part
of the source code that I wish to print into a separate file.
I would like to write a bash script that will call Enscript with the
necessary arguments. I want the header to contain the following data
path/name of original file (not the new filename), class, method, page
number. The bash script will get the additional data from a separate
text file.
I have looked into writing my own Enscript ".hdr" file, but even then
I run into a problem. This is because I don't know how to pass
additional information (class/method name) from the command line into
the header. I thought of a hacky way to do it by creating a new ".hdr"
file for each file that was printed. Is there a better way to do this,
by passing addition data into the header?
Secondary Question:
A few years ago, I seam to remember using a command line switch with
Enscript that worked with the switch "--fancy-headers=emacs". This
switch would let me replace the filename with something else. I can't
seam to find the switch that I used be before in the man page. What is
the switch?
PS. Does anyone know if there is a more appropriate news group for
questions about general gnu software.
