Did you ever talk to the administrator (and than listened carefully to
the answer you got)? Such policies usually have a good reason and aren't
implemented just to annoy the users, but perhaps you can get him or her
to make an exception for you if you can explain clearly why it's so
important to you. Running to some superior for help is usually the worst
idea unless you're dealing with someone completely unreasonable.
