UNIX VS MICROSOFT

Whatever happened to the big battle few years back between UNIX
(Suncom) and MS (gates) about the basic structure of the INTERNET.
As I recall MS was trying to revvise everything to conform more
to MS likeing, and Suncomm was doing battle to keep it all
based on UNIX itself. Anybody remember that?
