That version of OpenServer was released in 1998 and is two major

It does matter -- it's the whole problem. The name of the driver for
that hardware is "ad160". That driver was not included in the OSR505
product, since it shipped years before the Adaptec ultra160 product
line. SCO's version of that driver, for OSR505, is at:
ftp://ftp.sco.com/pub/openserver5/drivers/OSR505/btld/ad160/
Once you have that, the bootstring you will need is:
defbootstr link=ad160
If you were using OSR506 or 507, you wouldn't be having this problem
because the ad160 driver is built into those releases.
