Probably a JBS Terian.
Bill gives good advice when suggesting a hardware upgrade. Your
client
has 30+ employees using an old system that has many components
approaching
their date with death. If you could stage a new system while the old
continues to run, you will save yourself many night and weekend hours.
If your luck is better than mine, you will spend a lot of time
tweaking the
kernel, scouting the used market for faster hard drives, getting
everything configured and installed, and your client will be thrilled
with the performance. A week later, some unrelated failure will have
30+ employees twiddling their
thumbs at the worst possible moment vis a vis your availability.
If, on the other hand, your luck is no better than mine, the disk will
fail during the first kernel rebuild.
Jeff Liebermann had a good post on cusm on his approach to replacing a
failed
drive in an array. In short, replace them all. Your situation is
similar.
Good luck,
Dan Martin
If you go with something fast and modern, I think you'll need a SCO
upgrade
to handle CPU heat issues, thermal throttling, I think, is the term.
