The reason Baystar wants its money back from SCOG

Although it's a frightening concept, apparently they've condemned
SCOG's current leadership as lacking in experience concerning
litigation as a business model. Yep, old Darl and co. have been
"wasting" resources on their outdated and clearly doomed operating
system, instead of focusing on their numerous legal battles.

I must admit that I agree with Baystar here; I just don't understand
why they continue to claim they produce software at all?! They
certainly don't have a software business, or any real business that I
can see. I guess that's what happens when you spend your time
threatening and suing your own customers, refusing to return money to
investors, burn through millions of dollars per quarter pumping your
stock price so that insiders can sell high and telling blatant lies to
the world's media, despite a mountain of evidence proving these are
lies.

Even Laura "Idiot" Didio is now back peddling like mad, as she
suddenly became "shocked" this week at the share price roller coaster
ride (I'm guessing that after a few more "donations" from MS/SCOG she
might suddenly return to form though ;-)

There's a nice article up at ZDNet from Rupert Goodwins at the moment
up at:
http://comment.zdnet.co.uk/rupertgoodwins/0,39020691,39152776,00.htm

- here's an excerpt:

"Disposing of the software issue first, as SCO should have done last
year: nobody will ever want to buy software from the company again.
It's not very good, it's miles behind the competition and you run the
risk that your supplier will slap a lawsuit on you if you so much as
look at a penguin. SCO has no future in developing or selling
software, and pretending that it does is a drain on the company's
resources, focus and remaining credibility."

(I'm not sure why he thinks SCO have any credibility remaining, BTW;
anyone have any clues?!)

It's also amusing watching the bumblers at SCOG pumping their share
price like crazy at the moment. It staggered below 7 yesterday, and as
you may be aware, if they stay below 10.50 for too long the company
will be compelled to offer refunds to their investors. Thus the
"painting", to nudge it up just enough to keep them limping along...

This really is like some film plot. A clear cut case of good versus
evil. On one side we have a huge community (of which I'm proud to be a
part), donating their time and skills for free into producing some of
the best software and services on the planet for the love of their
craft. Most of whom have no interest whatsoever in "toppling
Microsoft", or fighting against anyone. On the other side, we have a
hoard of soulless, craven, lying, swindling litigious scum. These are
people who have no regard or respect for anything other than their
bank balance. They see that the innocent community have created
something beautiful, and now wish to take control of Linux, and bleed
it dry for their own selfish gain. Now that the community is fighting
back by researching the facts, and refuting the slurry of lies from
the scum over in Utah, the scum have taken to fighting themselves in
another disgusting display of corporate greed. I suppose people like
Darl, and his criminal band believe they have to acrue a large amount
of wealth during their lives, to enjoy some luxuries. If there is some
afterlife, they're certainly going to be fast-tracked to the "down"
elevator.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks; will
Darl be kicked out onto the street (and no doubt promptly sue his old
employer)? Will Baystar and RBC pull their investments, thus depriving
us of this free (and often amusing) freakshow? Will Tony continue to
dream that "SCO could win!" Has Bela already found another job?

Stay tuned, kids!
