Yup. 'tis true. There were some replicants being made a few years
ago with the exact same internal structure - sort of internal
backbone. Not like one of the kit-car looks-like but it's
sometihng else underneath.`

The GT40 was the first real concerted effort by an American company
to get into international racing since before World War II.
Henry Ford Jr. pushed it ahead - and Carrol Shelby of Cobra fame
was instrumental in building these beasts.
Ford wanted to challenge the world point leader Ferrari and the did
a remarkable job at LeMans. Two years later John Weir took a used
GT40 to second place at LeMan. Used race vehicles normally don't
put out that good of a show.
