Any way to reset the SCSI bus on ad160?

I'm still having wierd issues where an external SDLT tape drive on an
HP ml370 will randomly lock up at the beginning of a job - right when
Edge attempt to begin the backup. The drive will work fine for 3-10
days, then quit. We've swapped drives, cables, terminators, and also
upgraded the firmware in the latest tape drive, all to no avail.
I was wondering if there was a software command to reset the SCSI bus
on the ad160.. I know you could do this using cpqutil on older
controllers, but can't find anything to do the trick on this one.
cpqsmu only works with cha, and the cpqultra utility doesn't recognise
the controller (guess the ad160 isn't the same as cpqultra?)
I'd like to see if resetting the bus will restore access to the
tapedrive without rebooting (which is what it currently takes to
ressurrect the thing). Tape reset commands don't do the trick,
neither does powercycling the drive.
'tape reset' alone produces no output.
'tape status' hangs and cannot be killed with -9.
'edge.tape -i tape0' produces
device_issue() (sco): ioctl failed (22,0)
device_issue() (sco): ioctl failed (22,0)
device_issue() (sco): ioctl failed (22,0)
..then hangs, and cannot be killed with -9.
'tape -s reset /dev/rct0' gives a device busy error.
The server is running 5.0.7 with MP1 and UP2, on a 2-processor
HT-enabled (4 cpu total) ml370.
Thanks!
Larry
