    Just figured it out...

    Remove tcp/ppp via netconfig
    Add to /etc/host: 127.0.0.1 insert-system-name-here
    relink/reboot

    I'm assuming after the indexing is done I can go back in and add
    tcp/ppp and all will work. The index is building right now as I type
    this on a 350MHz PC so it'll be a while before I can confirm it.
