The collision lights are normal in a hub environment. That is
part of the design.

That is not good. Pingling localhost - 127.0.0.1 - will show you
that the software is installed correctly. If you can not ping
local host you have a problem and will need to find that first.

Rules of testing a network interface are:

1 - ping 127.0.0.1 - If OK got to 2.
2 - ping ip.of.the.local machine - if OK got to setp 3
3 - ping the IP of anyother locally connected machine or router.

Get 127.0.0.1 working and the rest should work.

Not suprising if you can ping localhost.

I'd contact them. Uninstall what you have installed and start
over. If you have a backup of the system [always a good habit
of a full-system backup before adding hardware] then you could bo
back to that.
