I've installed OSR507 on an IBM Thinkpad R40e. This has an integrated
Broadcom 5700 Ethernet controller. I'd like to get ethernet working.
The relevant bit of hw -r pci shows
Index: 7
Device: 11
Bus: 0
VendorId: 0x14e4
DeviceID: 0x170d
ClassCode: 0x020000 Ethernet controller
I ran 'netconfig', chose the bcme driver and gave these answers:
PCI Bus# 0
Device# 11
After rebooting, rc2.log contains
... dlpid: Unable to open network adapter driver (/dev/mdi/bcme0)
... dlpid: No such file or directory
'ls' thinks /dev/mdi/bcme0 exists.
syslog says
bcme0 ... Adapter not initialised
Unsurprisingly, 'ifconfig -a' sees no eth0.
The Ethernet hardware is OK (works under XP and Linux.)
Thanks in advance for any clues!
