I has a somewhat interesting similar experience. I had posted something on
a technical mailing list mentioning a Hawke DL9 Formula Ford that I had a
typical English car experience (it blew off an oil hose the first time I
took the brand new car on the track). A couple of year ago I got an email
with a couple of jpegs of Hawke FFs asking if I could help identify them,
and about when they would have been raced. To make a long story short, the
person sending the email bought one of the two cars, then found that it had
been the car I had raced between 1972 and 1978. Not only that, but he
lives in Surrey B.C., about 2 hours north of here. I was able to give him
copies of the customs documents where I imported the car plus other
documentation from the factory (I'm definately a pack rat :-).
