I had also been using CD or bootable DDS the last couple of years
(which also worked for me only with BTLD support turned off), until I
installed UP3/MP3 and got the out of space errors again. This support
document at microlite is what prompted me to use 1.68mb floppies:

I've just tried burning a CD again, which I should have done before
posting, and was successful. Microlite must have done something with
RecoverEdge in recent versions to address this problem.
