    If I have to do similar job , I'll only trust in a serious and solid
    backup as LONETAR . This software allows you to back up entire system
    , moving across links and all systems files . Then your allowed to
    restore to different hardware , giving possibilities for multiple
    choice of system boards and CPU. Use the option RescueRange .

    Of course that means buying new software and probably some tape drive
    ; but I cannot trust in dd or tar . Also cannot trust in original
    media , you can have a lot of problems intalling old media in new
    hardware .

    Give a look to www.cactus.com for more information . Also check with
    sales people of cactus software : they are very particpative.
