I installed a couple of Open Unix 8.0.0 UnixWare systems 3 years ago, and
support for this version seems to have disappeared from SCO's website.

Both installs were on HP TC4100 systems using Symbios 53c8xx SCSI
controller - HBA package c8xx.

Both of these systems get SCSI errors with dat tape drives, often resulting
in system hangs.

for example: cpio -icuvdm < /dev/rct0 always hangs the systems while dd
if=/dev/rct0 | cpio -icuvdm does not.

one of the system hangs at least once a week after the tape backup
completes, while the tape is rewinding!

I have been looking for updated firmware or HBA without luck.

Does anyone know of a fix for this?
