Re: Remote Printing

Hello,

I have a SCO Release 3.2v5.0.5 that I need to use for remote printing.

I have a printer set up with a Jet Direct Port (9100) with a remote IP
address, but have not been able to make it work. The problem may be
related to the firewall on the remote site (Fedora Core 4 with
iptables).

I have seen some posts referring to the use of 'rlp' to set up remote
printers but the local SCO machine does not have this software.

I can't remember if this applies to OSR505, but if you really want LPR/LPD printing you could try `mkdev rlp`.

I thought I would send a note to this list to how others have solved
this problem.

AFAIK most experts here use Kevin Smith's netcat instead of LPR/LPD. .
