Auto kill processes

We've recently added an rf system to one of our apps running on 5.0.7. The problem is the users with the hand helds frequently drive around with a product code screen, etc, open on the handhelds causing file lock and "in use by" errors in the program. Is there a way to auto terminate the terminal session if there has been no input or activity for "x" minutes???
