Re: LPD issues

I have a number of SCO Opensever 5.07 Systems which print to remote lpd
printers. The problem I am having is with lpd locking up due to random
network glitches or a remote printer going offline. Restarting the lpd
daemon seems to clear everything up, but it becomes very time consuming
having to restart lpd on several different systems multiple times a
day. Has anyone else ran into this error and figured out a proactive
fix? We are pretty tied to lpd at this point as it generally works the
majority of our systems.

I appreciate any help anyone can provide me.

Thanks,

Make sure you've removed the asterisk indicating the remote is using advanced LPD protocol (IE another SCO box) when setting up the remote printers.
