unexpected uuchat running

I see uuchat running on 5.0.7 system, for example ps -ef|grep uu

/usr/lib/uucp/uuchat -hx0 tty1A 19200 "" +++\dATQ0H OK?
ATE0&D2X4S2=128 OK? ATS

This box used to have a modem for dial-in for support, it was never
configured for dial-out as far as I know. Now telephone line is
disconnected and I wander what is this uuchat activity. It happens
quite frequent, from casual running ps I would say once in 5 minutes.

Can anybody shed some light why uuchat is running and how to stop it?
