I've inherited a 7yr old 5.0.6 system. It's in Intel server with a Mylex

I want to duplicate this system on a newer platform. I use Lone-Tar for
backup.
What is the best way to convert to a newer/different RAID controller? Load
a new OS, restore everything but /stand and /unix and then reconfigure the
odd device that doesn't work?
I would back up everything to an external hard drive, probably
via the network as it would be far easier than getting driver
support to handle the external drives.
One could use Lone-Tar for this, but (a) I'm always a bit leary
of tape backups on old hardware, and (b) there may be problems
getting the tape to run on a new system.

The cry has been that when war is declared, all opposition should
therefore be hushed. A sentiment more unworthy of a free country could
hardly be propagated. If the doctrine be admitted, rulers have only to
declare war and they are screened at once from scrutiny ... In war,
then, as in peace, assert the freedom of speech and of the press.
Cling to this as the bulwark of all our rights and privileges.
