I have a system that I am trying to get working. It boots just fine with OpenServer 6, but I am unable to get it to boot with OpenServer 5.0.7.

With either the disk image on HD or the install CD the system reboots right after hitting <ENTER>.

Any ideas on what boot options to try to get the machine to boot?

I have tried all the BIOS options. None seem to stop the rebooting.

I had the same problem with an Intel S3210 system board in a server I bought
from Team 1. I called support and Dan Tracy provided the suggestion to add
cache=/o to the defbootstr.

That was also added to the /etc/default/boot file.

I am able to install if I use

defbootstr cache=/o disable=usb_uhci,usb_ohci,usb_ehci

The only problem is the Team 1 system came with a USB keyboard and mouse. Using other devices ps2 keyboard and ps2 mouse.

Now I just have to figure out why/what the conflict is with the USB so I can use the USB keyboard and mouse that came with the system.

Any other ideas? Thanks for this hint.

Thanks,

Hi, Boyd.

I found this online, for MB's with no PS2:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815124061

No clue if it will work with SCO though.

Try this also:

- In the BIOS make sure various legacy devices (like the old style floppy controller) are disabled.

- If I read your post right, that board does have PS2 ports right? If so, disable the USB ports IN THE BIOS only. Then once you're able to boot, add the MP4 update, which has many USB patches in it.

Then re-boot and enable the BIOS USB, re-boot again.

Good luck!
