With either the disk image on HD or the install CD the system reboots right after hitting <ENTER>.
Any ideas on what boot options to try to get the machine to boot?
I have tried all the BIOS options. None seem to stop the rebooting.
I had the same problem with an Intel S3210 system board in a server I bought
from Team 1. I called support and Dan Tracy provided the suggestion to add
cache=/o to the defbootstr.
That was also added to the /etc/default/boot file.
I am able to install if I use
defbootstr cache=/o disable=usb_uhci,usb_ohci,usb_ehci
The only problem is the Team 1 system came with a USB keyboard and mouse. Using other devices ps2 keyboard and ps2 mouse.
Now I just have to figure out why/what the conflict is with the USB so I can use the USB keyboard and mouse that came with the system.
Any other ideas? Thanks for this hint.
I found this online, for MB's with no PS2:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815124061
No clue if it will work with SCO though.
Try this also:
- In the BIOS make sure various legacy devices (like the old style floppy controller) are disabled.
- If I read your post right, that board does have PS2 ports right? If so, disable the USB ports IN THE BIOS only. Then once you're able to boot, add the MP4 update, which has many USB patches in it.
Then re-boot and enable the BIOS USB, re-boot again.
Here is what happened. I had to use these articles.
How can I, during SCO OpenServer 507 installation, load a BTLD via CD-ROM (Not via a floppy drive)?
http://wdb1.sco.com/kb/showta?taid=126828
Where can I get pre-created Openserver 5.0.7 Boot CD image that contains commonly used BTLD?
http://wdb1.sco.com/kb/showta?taid=126839
This one almost worked, but I could not get the CD out to put the install CD in.
How can I break out of the install routine to a shell prompt?
http://wdb1.sco.com/kb/showta?taid=105094
This almost worked as well. I just could not find the right sequence to unmount the CD, but I was able to use the debug to get information.
Then I created a CD the the wd BTLD and this is what I had to use.
At the boot prompt.
Boot: defbootstr cache=/o disable=usb_uhci,usb_ohci,usb_ehci link=wd btld=fd(64)
With a lot of finagleing using the install CD and the CD with the wd 3.0 image and debug I used the above moving things in and out of the CD drive but I got OpenServer 5.0.7 installed. Once I installed MP 5. I was able to bot the system adding "cache=/o" in /stand/etc/default/boot and /etc/default/boot.
It was a real nightmare but I now have the system working. It appears that I also have Cadol using cpx working. It has the HW Key on the parallel port and a special device driver. I wish I could have gone to OpenServer 6, but I had to downgrade to OpenServer 5.0.7 because of the OpenServer 5 device driver.
Thanks everyone for your assistance.
Hey Boyd. Please post the system board model and hardware configuration
so that we can stay away from it and avoid the having your nightmare, or
at least know we are sticking our face in a fan ahead of time.
