yes. It is EOL for a long time now.

Really really _bad_ idea. If you want world class slow performance then
you can do RAID5 via SVM but ... don't do that to yourself. Just don't.

Well .. 18Gb disks are definately not supported on the SSA.
In fact, I don't think that you will get much more than a 4Gb Sun disk
in that SSA within the definitions of Sun specs. Outside of that you may
be able to simple put 9Gb disks in there also.

Be sure that you have ssaadm installed on the server.

  Thus :

# uname -a
SunOS medusa 5.9 Generic_112233-04 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-2
# cat /etc/release

# which ssaadm
/usr/sbin/ssaadm

# ssaadm -v display c1

Thus, I have thirty disks in the SSA with ten in each tray. Common sense
dictates that you can not simply create one large RAID5 stripe across all
thirty disks. Why? Well, in the event of a disk failure you will need to
take the entire array offline in order to spin down a tray and replace a
single disk. The best way to setup things is to simply stripe an entire
tray together and then mirror that with its neighbor tray. If you have all
three trays full then you can create a three-way mirror and do online backups
whenever you want by taking a tray offline. So long as you don't lose a disk
in each tray you're fine.

Be sure to read the man page of the ssaadm utility. You will need it.
The key thing to know is how to spin down a tray and replace a disk while
running.
