I have a Sun Enterprise 4000 with all scsi connections. I have a 36GB
hard drive already hooked up and running solaris 8. I am now trying
to attach an IDE Maxtor Diamond Max 16 250GB ATA/133 hard drive using
an IDE to SCSI converter. I am able to see the hard drive when I do a
probe-scsi-all.
When I run the format command I get both drives displayed, the first
drive is the boot drive and is running fine, the second drive is the
IDE 250GB drive and is not recognized as a specific drive type, but
seen as a formatable drive. Since the drive type is unknown I have to
enter in all the cylinders, sectors, heads, etc for the drive. After
I enter in all the data I am still unable to format the drive.
Can anyone help me out?
Mark
