So you're saying the usernames and hostnames are valid. Why, then,
doesn't e-mail to those work properly?

No, that's one of the things that isn't configurable in the SVR4 print
system (and Solaris didn't change it).

But not *why* it failed, which is the whole reason for the e-mail
message.

The bottom line is that lpsched can't be told to not send e-mail to
the user when printing the job fails. Your next option is to intercept
the messages in the e-mail system. Whether that's on the print server,
or on the mail servers that receive the messages from the print server,
is up to you.
