What sort of tape drive? If it's a SCSI-attached tape drive and you can't
see it when booted from the CD then it's most likely you've got some form
of physical problem (dead tape drive/scsi card/cable/etc).

Can you see the tape drive when you run "probe-scsi-all" from the OK
prompt?
