How is the Tape unit attached to the machine ?
Which solaris version does your Boot CD have ?

If you have a modern machine and an old Boot CD
it is likley that some driver needed is not present on the CD.

Use a Boot CD that is contemporary with the server.

In other words, dont use a solaris 8 FCS boot CD to try to start
a SUNBLADE 100 it does'nt work well.
